  • What types of yoga classes do you offer?
I teach a colourful mix of upbeat Vinyasa Flow Yoga classes together with chilled stretchy Yin Yoga. My teaching style is casual and modern, but with a respectful nod to tradition and just the right sprinkling of spiritual. I enjoy working with everyone, from complete beginners to experienced practitioners and I personally invite you to join my growing community of inclusive, friendly, "down-to-earth" yogis.
  • What is the difference between Vinyasa Flow Yoga and Yin Yoga?
Vinyasa Flow Yoga and Yin Yoga are two distinct styles of yoga, each with its own unique characteristics and benefits. Vinyasa Flow Yoga is a dynamic and fluid practice that emphasizes the connection between breath and movement. In Vinyasa, poses are linked together in a sequence, allowing for a continuous flow that often includes transitions between various postures. This style is typically more vigorous and can vary in intensity, making it suitable for those looking for a workout that also incorporates mindfulness and breath awareness. The pace can be fast, and classes often feature creative sequences that challenge strength, flexibility, and balance. Yin Yoga, on the other hand, is a slower-paced practice that focuses on holding poses for extended periods, usually between three to five minutes or longer. This style targets the deeper connective tissues, such as ligaments and fascia, rather than the muscles. Yin Yoga encourages relaxation and introspection, making it a meditative practice that promotes flexibility and joint health. It is particularly beneficial for stress relief and enhancing overall well-being. In summary, the primary differences lie in the pace and focus of each practice: Vinyasa Flow is dynamic and movement-oriented, while Yin Yoga is slow and restorative, emphasizing stillness and deep stretching. Both styles offer unique benefits and can complement each other in a well-rounded yoga practice.
  • Where do you teach your classes?
I currently teach my classes in the villages surrounding York and Harrogate, North Yorkshire. Check out my class schedule to find a class near you!
  • I've never done yoga before, can I come along?
No prior experience is necessary to join my classes. I welcome beginners and provide modifications to ensure that everyone can participate comfortably. My goal is to create an inclusive environment where all students can learn and grow.
  • I'm not flexible or strong, can I do yoga?
Yes! There is a common misconception that to do yoga you must be flexible/strong, when actually you practice yoga to improve these areas. Most of us spend our day sitting down at desks or engaging in repetitive motion such as using our mobile phones which shorten muscles. Practising yoga enables you to lengthen and strengthen your muscles and release built up toxins. If you are not flexible/strong you probably need yoga the most!
  • What should I bring to class?
Please bring your own yoga mat and a water bottle with you to class. You may also wish to bring a jumper and/or a blanket for Savasana (our wonderful relaxation at the end of each class).
  • What should I wear to a yoga class?
I recommend to wear comfortable, breathable clothing that allows for a full range of movement - remember to consider how your clothing performs when you touch your toes. Hooded jumpers and scoop-neck tops are not recommended for practice for this very reason. Consider wearing layers as the studio temperature can vary but don't worry about footwear since we practice barefoot.
  • How do I book and pay for a class?
Please use the Booking Calendar above or my app to book and pay for your classes and events. I recommend reserving your spot in advance as places can book up quickly.
  • Do you host any special events or workshops?
Yes, I regularly hold special wellbeing events and yoga workshops that focus on specific themes or techniques. Please check my website or subscribe to my newsletter for updates on upcoming events.
  • Do you offer private classes?
Yes please email hello@perfectposeyoga.com for more information.
